Weekend Training / Jan 9 & 10 / Pre-Whitetail Race Meeting

January 8, 2010

 Greetings Racing Families

Just a couple of quick notes about training and racing at Whitetail this weekend, Jan 9 & 10.

We'll train Giant Slalom on Saturday at Whitetail, We'll start at 8:30 with the
Sr Team and 9:00 for the Jr Team.  Bring you're GS skis and take the chin guard
off your helmet.

Tim McKinney, our very own Whitetail Chief of Race is hosting a volunteer
and organizational  meeting in preparation for the PWC Whitetail Giant Slalom.
This gathering will take place in the Race Trailer at Whitetail this Saturday at 11:30am.
We need lots of willing and able volunteers to help make the Whitetail GS a great
race again this year.  Skiing skills are not required to assist with the race.  Please
join us for this meeting.

We'll train Slalom on Sunday at Whitetail, for the J1/J2s and all those of you
not competing at Liberty in the Patrick Shire Memorial Giant Slalom.   Bring
your slalom armor and put that chin guard back on your helmet.

For those of you competing at Liberty, Registration opens at 7:00am.  I'd
encourage you to get there early -- there are a lot of racers registered
for this event and everyone is going to show up to register at 7:30 and be
waiting in line.  At 7:00am the registration line will be very short.
First run inspection at Liberty opens at Liberty at 8:15am with the lifts opening
at 8:00am.  Plan on meeting your coaches at the top of the course for inspection
at 8:10am.

Liberty put together a fantastic information message about several details
of their event.  Please take a look at it on the web Liberty Mountain Race Team : Event
There is lots of helpful info there, from where to park, or not to park and where
to stash your lunch basket.  Please take a look at this document.

The Liberty GS was planned as a three run event but due to the size of the
field (160+) racers it's be changed to a two run day.  We've made the same
adjustment to the Whitetail race anticipating a similar sized field.

For those of thinking about racing at the Tussey Mountain in the Slalom
races on Jan 16 & 17 please talk with your  coaches if your'e not sure this
would be a good race for you.  Remember, a weekend racing is a
weekend spent not training.  The Tussey Slaloms are Central Region
qualifiers for J3-J5s and are a good "warm-up" race prior to the PA
Cup Slaloms held the following weekend at Seven Springs

It's going to be a busy and cold weekend at Whitetail, dress for the weather.

Lastly, as the weather outlook for the next week looks very good we're planning
on hosting weeknight training on Thursday night in addition to our regular
Tuesday night sessions.  Please let me know if you're planning on attending.

Regards
Dan
